The two colossal granite statues of a queen and a pharaoh, discovered in Thonis-Heracleion and each almost 5 metres high (16.4 feet), recently embarked on the journey from an exhibition venue in the USA back to their home land of Egypt. They will be part of the permanent collection of the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza which will open its doors in 2021.
