Dear Friends,

Those of you who have followed our discoveries in the sunken city of Thonis-Heracleion will remember the two colossal granite statues of a queen and a pharaoh, each almost 5 metres high (16.4 feet). Recently, they embarked on the journey from an exhibition venue in the USA back to their home land of Egypt. We are proud that they will be part of the permanent collection of the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza which will open its doors in 2021 (see also this piece in Egypt Today).

Furthermore, I have put together some video recommendations for you:

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts organized a virtual tour of the current exhibition "Treasures of Ancient Egypt: Sunken Cities" with KISS FM's King Tutt. You can watch it here.

The museum has also published one of my online lectures with Q&As about our research in Egypt.

We have resumed the FAQ series on our YouTube Channel. You can now learn more about the technical equipment used during our research and why the ancient cities sank beneath the waves.

We also set up a TikTok account with some impressions from our underwater work. There are also some fun sequences shot by the team.

And finally, our long term partner, the Hilti Foundation, presents its impressive support of different projects all over the world in a new video.

I hope you enjoy watching.

Take care and all the best,
