this month marks the 20th anniversary of our discovery of Thonis-Heracleion. During the last two decades we have resumed our research in this sunken city each year and were able to gather fascinating new information on ancient civilizations.
My team and I feel honoured to be able to explore such a rare underwater archaeological site. It is still a dream come true and based on today's research results we are far from finishing our work there. I would guess that we have discovered only about five percent of the whole city so far. We will of course keep you posted on any new discoveries.
We have added a new video on our YouTube channel about how we succeeded in discovering Thonis-Heracleion.
I would also like to inform you that our research in Alexandria harbour is featured in a new episode of Discovery's UNEARTHED series which is broadcast Sunday 14 June 2020 on the Science Channel in the USA at 9pm. I hope you enjoy watching it.
And finally, I am happy to announce that the exhibition "Treasures of Ancient Egypt: Sunken Cities" with finds from Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus will open its doors at the Virginia Museum of fine Arts in Richmond on 4 July 2020.
