Bobby Orillaneda

19 March 1971, Philippines

Has worked with Franck Goddio since 2000.

Bobby is currently working on his masters in archaeology, specializing in underwater archaeology, on the Archaeological Studies Program at the University of the Philippines. He previously took a degree in nursing, but then worked in graphic design at the University. His cousin showed him a brochure about the Archeological Studies Program… so he went to be interviewed – and was accepted. Now he is very excited to be following a career that he loves.

Archaeology appealed to him at first because the history of the Philippines has hardly been studied. He has always lived by the sea, loves traveling and likes having an ‘unusual’ job.

Bobby is particularly interested in ceramics, especially porcelain and stoneware. He loves the story behind the porcelain --- where it was made and by whom, and its travels until it was found on a shipwreck... He has also been fascinated by the history of the Neanderthals… the mystery between ancient man and recent… he would like to find out why they became extinct.
